Everybody needs a little rest and relaxation sometimes – and as The White Lotus kicks off season three.

e at their Thailand wellness resort, it becomes pretty clear it’s the staff dealing with these relentlessly problematic guests.

But as they (mostly) put their phones away and go for some spa treatments, something deadly is on the horizon. Now it’s just a case of figuring out who snaps, and who the victim is in all this.

Just another day in the life of this troubled fictional hotel chain.

So what insufferable characters are coming to stay this time around, and what is going on with them?

Here’s all you need to know about this year’s key characters, and who plays them.

Played by: Michelle Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang)

Jaclyn is arguably the leader of her friendships group, and after finding success as a TV host, she has treated her girls to the Thailand trip – covering everything.

She is recognised a lot but notes it comes with the cost of “not having a bad day in public anymore”. Her friends suspect she may have had some cosmetic work done, though she insists it was “only maintenance”.

Played by: Leslie Bibb (Jupiter’s Legacy, Palm Royale)

Kate is a proud mum from Austin, Texas, with a husband called Dave. She relentlessly works to seem likeable to everyone, which at times rubs people up the wrong way. Kate has declared the girls’ trip to Thailand a ‘victory tour’ rather than a ‘midlife crisis retreat’.

She has a lot of opinions when it comes to her friends and their life choices.

Played by: Carrie Coon (Gone Girl, The Gilded Age)

A woman who has focused a lot of her time climbing up the corporate ladder, Laurie lives in New York, and is looked down upon by her friends, and she knows it.

Aware the group aren’t as close as they once were, Laurie sees the trip as a much-needed getaway from her busy life back home.

Played by: Walton Goggins (Fallout, Sons of Anarchy)

A cold persona and frequently aloof, Rick is a tough nut to crack, with very little bringing him joy – not even Chelsea, his young and beautiful girlfriend, or a life that affords him the ability to travel around the world.

He has a lot of questions and ulterior motives for this sudden trip to The White Lotus - something he’s hiding from Chelsea.

Played by: Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education, Daddy Issues)

A former yoga teacher from Manchester, England, Chelsea is perpetually positive and soulful, and decades younger than boyfriend Rick, though she doesn’t seem to mind.

Chelsea has enjoyed travelling the world with Rick, but a lot of the time is mainly there to provide excuses for his rude behaviour. She considers herself a zen woman of the world and acts accordingly.

Played by: Jason Isaacs (The OA, Harry Potter franchise)

Timothy is a wealthy businessman who has created quite the life for himself and his family. Not that he has much time to enjoy it.

He has very high standards for him and his children and is willing to do anything to help them achieve it. Even bringing the family to Thailand so Piper can work on her thesis.

Played by: Parker Posey (Dazed and Confused, Lost in Space)

The Southern Belle matriarch of the Ratliff family, Victoria is often present in body but not spirit in her childrens’ lives.

She’s self-absorbed and easily finds something to complain about and has a veritable cabinet of pills to pop to get her through the day. She is very used to her rich and entitled lifestyle and acts accordingly.

Played by: Patrick Schwarzenegger (Gen V, The Staircase)

The oldest child of the Ratliffs, Saxon has an image of himself as an Alpha male that doesn’t necessarily translate to those around him. Working for his father, he is just as obsessed with business and clearly intends to emulate Timothy in his future endeavours.

Saxon is also sex-obsessed, with his main goal on this trip being to get laid. He may be knocked back several times, but he considers his mission a ‘numbers game’ and has an unshakeable ego as a result.

Played by: Sarah Catherine Hook (Cruel Intentions, First Kill)

Piper is the reason the Ratliff family have come to Thailand, telling the group she wanted to interview a monk who lives there. What she didn’t tell them was she hadn’t even set the interview up.

Being the double whammy of only daughter and the middle child, Piper is easily overlooked by her brothers and is quite introverted, preferring to read a book than listen to what her siblings, particularly Saxon, has to say. Though she does hold a soft spot for Lochlan.

Played by: Sam Nivola (White Noise, Eileen)

Lochlan is often torn between two places at all times; whether it be his siblings, or his impending decision on where to go to college.

He’s someone who doesn’t seem to know what he wants out of life, and after completing his studies, just wants to relax while in Thailand. Not that his family will let him.

Played by: Lek Patravadi (In Family We Trust)

Sritala is the glamorous manager of The White Lotus, though she spends more time making sure she is the centre of attention rather than the day-to-day function of the wellness centre. That’s often left to her long-suffering second-in-command, Fabian.

A once-famous Thai singer, Sritala lives for the spotlight, and is never seen without looking like the picture of perfection. Her husband is currently ill and has left the resort to stay in Bangkok.

Played by: Lalisa Manobal (BlackPink singer)

A health mentor at the resort, Mook is at the beck and call of Rick and Chelsea, having been assigned them at their arrival. It’s her job to make sure that all their needs are met, and they make the most of their time at the wellness centre.

Played by: Natasha Rothwell (How to Die Alone, Insecure)

Belinda is a massage therapist who we first met in Hawaii during The White Lotus season one. She has come to Bangkok for a three-month course on improving her technique and learning new skills she can give to her clients.

She is excited at the prospect of her son coming to join them soon.

Played by: Tayme Thapthimthong (Mechanic: Resurrection, Thai Cave Rescue)

A security guard for The White Lotus, most of Gaitok’s life is restricted to the uncomfortable booth at the front gate of the resort. However, it’s worth it for the fleeting time he gets to spend with Mook.
