Everything you need to know about Fatherhood With My Father

In this four-episode series, comedian Jack Whitehall prepares to tackle his greatest role to date: being a dad for the first time.

With long-time partner Roxy preparing to welcome his first child, he looks to his father, Michael, for advice – for better or for worse.

Together, Michael and Jack set off on a path of discovery and adventure as they try to crack the answers to parenthood’s endless questions.

In their own inimitable and hilarious way, Jack and Michael will travel the world, examining what fatherhood means across the globe, discussing the Dad that Michael is and the one that Jack wants to be.

During the course of the series, the pair experience (or endure, depending on how you look at it) an antenatal class and a simulated birth.

They also question what the future holds for Jack’s daughter, baby Elsie, with the development of AI, and the extremes some people go to protect their family.

Fatherhood With My Father is a spin-off series to Travels With My Father, which saw Jack and Michael head off around the world together and experience different cultures and customs.

Who stars in Fatherhood With My Father?

Fatherhood With My Father centres around father-son duo, Jack and Michael Whitehall.

Jack Whitehall

Jack Whitehall is a stand-up comedian and TV presenter, whose work includes Live At The Apollo and hosting The Brit Awards for four years.

He has performed five stand-up tours across the UK and became a regular face on panel shows including Mock The Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and Have I Got News For You.

His comedy is often self-deprecating and situational, which led to an increased interest in his father, Michael. The pair would later team up for their own projects, including Travels With My Father and TV show, Backchat.

He is also an actor, starring in movies Death On The Nile and Clifford The Big Red Dog, though he is most known for Channel 4 student comedy Fresh Meat from 2011 to 2016, and BBC’s Bad Education.

Jack is an avid sports fan, a lifetime supporter of Arsenal FC, and a previous star on Sky’s A League Of Their Own.

Michael Whitehall

Michael Whitehall is a former talent agent, whose clients previously included Colin Firth, Richard E. Grant, and Dame Judi Dench.

He has also tried his hand as a producer, forming two production companies: Havahall Pictures with Nigel Havers in 1988, before his own, Whitehall Films, in 1998.

Michael later wrote about his experience as an agent in the book Shark Infested Waters: Tales of an Actors' Agent.

As his son grew in fame, Michael moved more in front of the camera, with their pair’s alternative views on the world often being a source for their comedy.

Other prominent cast members on the series include:

  • Roxy Horner (Jack’s pregnant partner)
  • Hilary Whitehall (Michael’s wife and Jack’s mother)

What is the age rating of Fatherhood With My Father?

The official rating of Fatherhood With My Father in the UK has not been announced by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

However, it is believed that, due to the nature of the show, it will be a 15 or 18, and unsuitable for young children.

This is due to the trailer containing evidence the show has:

  • Jokes aimed towards an adult audience
  • Use of language
  • Graphic depictions and descriptions of birth
